Cycling along the canal
Mummy and Daddy decided to take Amelia for a cycle along the Leeds – Liverpool canal. Amelia saw horses, ducks and dogs. She was particularly impressed with the horses which were truly massive.
Mummy was amazed when she asked if we should all stop in the pub for a drink. For some bizarre reason Daddy wasn’t up for a beer! Must be getting all sensible or something.
The only minor rant to be had on this trip was the gates along the way on the canal towpath. The canal authorities have kindly put bike shaped holes in the gates so that you can push the bike through, but they haven’t put bike-with-a-baby-seat-on-the-back shaped holes in there so it was a right ball ache. We couldn’t go around it, we couldn’t go under it, we couldn’t go over it….sorry – you have to be a fan of "We’re going on a bear hunt" to understand that one. Anyway, we managed to get through all of the gates one way or another which involved a lot of effort from Daddy, and we managed to cycle from Roby Bridge to Wigan and back – which was fun. See the map at the end for our route.
