Going in for the kiss

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I don’t know why we do it but whenever we get Amelia and Jake together we’re always trying to get them to kiss each other.  Amelia always seems to be up for it, but Jake looks like he’s about to poke her in the eye.  I’m sure his feeling will change in a few years.

The photo was taken in our back garden on May Day bank holiday.  We were having a bit of a bbq but it rained, as it does when people light a barbecue up.  So we hid underneath the tent thing and encouraged our children to kiss each other.

Klingons on the starboard bow

We made it up to Conniston on Saturday and Amelia donned her life jacket.  In the picture we have John Briscoe, Amelia Poppy and Emma.

Amelia enjoyed her day on the water but got a bit bored after a while, as did Emma.  It’s undecided yet whether Amelia will turn out to be a "sailor type" like Daddy or a "go shopping type" like Mummy.  :)

Notice John without the buoyancy aid.  Tut tut tut Mr Briscoe, "Fur die kinder" as our sausage munching beer swilling goose stepping friends are known to say.

Sailing the seven seas

In preparation for Amelia’s maiden voyage upon Daddy’s boat "Rebekah" we have been kitting her out with all the essential safety gear.  She has a life-jacket, some sandals and a pair of sunglasses.  What more does any self respecting salty sea dog need?

She’s been practicing blowing on the whistle in case of a man overboard type emergency, but I suspect if Amelia goes overboard then Daddy will be right behind her.  I also caught her doing a refresher course on who should steer the other way when you’re going to hit another boat, which is a relief as Daddy really can’t remember the "rules of the road".

Pictures of our little munchkin at sea will be posted soon.
