Lunch al fresco

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Before heading off to meet Tim and Lyndsey in Formby we decided to feed Amelia a little lunch outside.

It began with just her chair, then she wanted us to bring out "Jakey’s chair".  After that Amelia decided a table was required and finally the umbrella was demanded.

We had crowds of passing French tourists stopping and ordering a "haw hee haw hee haw"

Milly and the chocolate [ cake ] factory

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Unusually for a toddler Amelia has an almost feverish desire to stuff her face with chocolate, biscuits, sweets or pretty much anything with plenty of sugar in it.  Mummy and I tend to try and limit her access to such tooth-decay inducing goodies but every now and then we succumb.

Today Amelia "helped" Mummy to bake our monthly treat of a massive chocolate cake.  Above is the two layers of sponge which came out of the oven perfectly.  Must be Amelia’s help in the matter.

Our little angel then proceeded to help with the creation of the icing.  It’s hard to believe that just a few months ago she couldn’t actually walk, and now here she is balancing on a stool in the kitchen messing with chocolate and butter and stuff!

The finished article.  The more observant amongst you will notice that the cake is fully intact and yet the "quality tester" is covered in chocolate!  She licks the bowl of life, and all that.

Em, Amelia and I had a jolly day out at Southport where Daddy bought a new suit and some new jeans.  After our shopping trip we headed down to the beach and Amelia embarked on her first ever donkey ride.  She enjoyed it tremendously and for the entire 20 minute walk back to the car she was screaming “donkey ride, donkey ride”.  Inconsolable.  I think we’re going to go back to the beach sooner rather than later to cheer up our little chipmunk.
