Replanting the Buddleia

Friday, November 28th, 2008

It’s been a long time since we had a pic of Amelia and Daddy out in the garden.  This was taken a month or so ago when Amelia was helping me to move the Buddleia from the border outside the front door into an empty-ish section of the front garden.

To be honest she wasn’t that interested but she likes being outside with her hat and coat on!

Upsy Daisy again

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

In a continuation of the whole "Upsy Daisy" theme [ see here ] Amelia and I were playing with some clothes pegs to give her "natty dreads".  She was quite impressed with having clothes pegs for hair and was delicately walking into the kitchen to show Mummy.  On the way to the kitchen she inadvertently shook her head a little and either the noise or the hair pulliness freaked her out and she started screaming.  Daddy being a responsible parent decided it was wiser to get a quick photo before removing the pegs and consoling her.  Does that make me a bad Daddy????

Bouncy, bouncy

It’s been a long time since we posted a video on the blog so I thought I’d finish off the holiday series with Amelia in the play park in Los Cristianos.

Nothing too exciting happens, there is no unexpected twist at the end.  Pretty dull really.  Sorry.

Another day another fire engine.  This time Amelia was helping out Golf Del Sur Fire Department.

Fortunately this machine was broken so we couldn’t drop a euro in and then listen to Amelia freaking out screaming "don’t like it, don’t like it".

Strawberry delights

Like every toddler that can string a few words together Amelia makes regular demands for ice-cream.  Since we were all baking hot on Playa Fanabe we decided to give in to her demands.  The usual debate rages about whether she was cooled from the inside-out or from the outside in, or whether the two in combination cooled her down sufficiently.

If you look just to the right of the curl on Amelia’s head and just to the left of the chair behind her then you will see some rocks out to sea [ click on the photo for a closer look ].  Well Daddy, being a complete idiot, decided to swim out to those rocks.  It wasn’t really that far but the tide was coming in which made things a lot lot more difficult.  I eventually made it but contemplated turning around about two thirds of the way there.  I eventually sat on the rocks with my arms trembling from the exertion and panting with the effort of getting there, wondering how I was going to make it back.  After a 15 min recovery I jumped in and set off back to the beach.  Thanks to the tide I pretty much just floated back in and all my fears were for nothing.  It was great fun – but a little terrifying.

El Teide

In the background is El Teide.  In the foreground is Amelia with a cheeky grin.  It really was getting pretty chilly at this point…well, chilly for Tenerife, it was like a Summers day in England!
